Unified GAS DETECTION Software Platform
The Project
The objective of the unified software platform project was to offer a Honeywell-branded umbrella application, universally compatible with safety assets from any Honeywell-acquired manufacturer, to supersede the existing, proprietary software tools. As binding link between diverse hardware systems, an application with uncompromising user experience is vital to sustained customer loyalty to Honeywell - with technical integrity a given. The new offering is intended as software-as-a-service (SAAS), eventually responsive, client server application:
Information Architecture
The application is modular. What you see, interact with, and may manipulate as a user depends on the exact lineup of modules your organization subscribes to, and your user role. Access to specific modules may be privileged on a need-to-know basis, and/or indeed follow formal accountabilities for operational safety.
VISUAL DESIGN
Selection of comps produced in Sketch, with focus on…
Dual brand: Honeywell plus customers’ proprietary corporate identity (here by a fictitious company called ‘Petrarco’)
Dashboard presenting key metrics relating to operating a gas detector fleet with supporting infrastructure
List of assets with sort, search and filter functions to manage information at various scales
Detector parameters presented in topical groups (details, sensors, settings tabs) for ease of scanning
Consistent primary, secondary, and tertiary calls-to-action
INTERACTION DESIGN
Wireframe set specifying the user flow for onboarding a new device – a gas detector in this instance:
Adding a new device to the safety asset inventory
Approving the newly added device (legal requirement)
Inventory overview with filtering and sorting functions
Viewing device parameters; bearing of connected and disconnected states on the ability to modify parameters
Modal ‘drilldown’ dialogs for editing individual sensor settings
Low-Fidelity Mockups
...of tablet and smartphone based software versions.
